Brothernlaw Max finally connected Tuesday night with his first hog. Hit him way too far back but the 60g hornady .223 was deadly as always and he dropped him. Upgrading to the Photon definitely helped. Apex thermal worked great for me but I shot poorly. I hit a runner but too far back I believe. I'm gonna go look for buzzards tomorrow.20160406_011626.jpg

Nothing as much fun as hog stacking! That one hog was huge! Any idea what it weighted? One hell of a target rich environment! Envy is in bloom......

Great hunting everyone! It's been a busy start to the week for me. Took a co-worker out to the lease for his first ever hog hunt. He's pretty experienced behind the rifle so it was no surprise that he was able to make a good shot. I was, however, surprised that he DOUBLE TAPPED the damn thing in the ear hole at 70 yards! After I finished laughing I told him that's not normally required. Anyway, it was cool to see him enjoy his first hunt.

After that, my buddy asked me to help him kill some hogs in his grandpa's soybean field. Of course I'll help! Stalked a quarter mile up to a group of ten feeding using the thermals to scout with. Six of them took rounds but we could only find three. Beans are so high they are invisible once they drop. Looked for an hour and started dragging them out. Perfect eating size!

Some of my best hunting adventures was when I finally got to hunt with my dad... I was 30 before we hunted together. Got about 5yrs. worth of good hunts with him before he felt he was too old to hunt.

Okay this was a little different, while working (stop laughing) we pulled through a turn row in a corn field and there was a sow and 2 or 3 piglets. I hopped out and dropped the sow and a piglet and possibly clipped another as it headed into the corn. My coworker said "nice shooting but wasn't that a pot-bellied pig?" I said yes i thought so too.
Anyways they definitely had Pot-bellied characteristics but had gone feral so needed to be stopped from tearing up the corn. I'm hoping the esteemed Dr. Shaffer will interject here and enlighten us on the subject, cuz i ain't never! I thought maybe there was a reason for her only having a couple of piglets but the fur infested coyote droppings kinda answered that for me, those little short legs must not be too good at escaping.

Lancer you're not gonna believe this but look what I shot at the feeder last night. I've never seen the genes in feral hogs but this one had to have some pot belly in it!20160609_000338.jpg
