Maybe he IS aiming at the animals and hitting the dirt clods, but in your case he might aim at the dirt clods and start hitting the animals by accident.

i'm not saying this for my ego, it's big enough.

We've know that for quite a while DJ!

We are fighting a losing battle against the hogs. They reproduce too quickly, there is too much space for them to invade, and there are too many restrictions (DNR rules, uncooperative landowners, etc.) to make eradicating the little buggers feasible.

On the positive side, they give us something to do. I've got a 23 month old and a 3 month old. I am stuck in diaper hell! If I didn't have hog hunting to think about and look forward to, I'd go crazy. God only knows what evil DJ would release upon this earth if he did not have the hogs to terrorize!

DJones, it's fun to throw the banter back/forth with yaz... but, at the end of the day... I always enjoy watching your hunting vids. One of these days, I'll make that mark on my bucket list and kill a wild hog (or three). Until then... I must enjoy a vicarious hog hunting life through those who share their exploits.

not following you?? i like finkT!! i was trying to help him out. i know he would have to ask his wife if he could come and she would say no, so i tried to let him save face by not inviting him.

if i was being mean i would have posted the pm lawhog sent me saying to just give him the word and fakeT was 'OUTTA HERE'. i really just can't seem to get upset over internet stuff. however, it would help if there was a wall of shame where folks names would be posted while they are temporarily banned. gives me something to work towards. being on the wall is better than having banners!!

Come on Gents. We gotta try not to eat our own on here. A unified front is the best when it comes to things that threaten to halt something we all enjoy.

Also, keep in mind that it is hard to interpret nonverbal comms in written text.

It is OK, we all know DJ is our "Class Miss-er" and this is probably the only forum that allows him so take it easy on him. Besides the dirt clod videos are entertaining

Just one of the reasons you don't see me here that often anymore.

On one hand I have to agree with DJ and a few others, anything to help the farmers is good for the farmers. But I just love killing hogs to much to ever want to see them poisoned! Also I don't see it ever taking off and being successful without too many side affects and other animals getting into the poison.

We kill anywhere from 800-1200 hogs a year on all our places and we haven't noticed a huge decrease in the population, if any. What we have noticed is that the hogs definitely have gotten smarter. We used to be able to drive up within 100 yards to hogs before they would get nervous and now on a calm night they'll bust us from engine noise from 500 yards away.

Luckily for us the properties we hunt on are just invested with hogs and with their location and terrain the population will continue to thrive. The farmers we hunt on do say we have made a difference in their output on harvest.

Some may not believe me on how many we kill and that's fine. But those that know me know how many hogs we have.

if my farmers only had 121 hogs, they wouldn't consider that a hog problem. i've seen that many in one field
We're in similar situation there. It's not uncommon for us to scan a wheat field that has 200+ hogs in it at once.

What area do you hunt in? I know west somewhere since you talk about peanut fields. We hunt places around Wichita falls, Holliday, Electra, and all around lake kickapoo. And I have a close friend with a place between Munday and Knox City on the river.

I hate to hear that. You are one of my favorites.

Back to the original thread....

You know what they say about opinions...................everybody's got one. But with all the banter and back and forth on who has the biggest balls or shoots the most hogs it all boils down to what the farmer does not what we think. He gets the last say no matter what! And whatever decision he makes is the right decision because its his ass that's in a sling not ours.

I love and respect every one on this forum and this is the best forum I've ever been on and I sure don't mind if someone disagrees with me on any issue.
