So tonight, I am sitting on a corn feeder but know that I have to get back to the truck before 8pm so I can listen to MAGA give the State of the Union address.

Anyway, I only saw a few deer come out and I decided I've had enough and got down. When I got to road my truck was parked on I scanned both directions because I have been seeing hog tracks in the road near my feeder. Looking back toward my truck I saw what looked like something just behind my truck. It was really hot like I expected a hog to look but why in the heck would it be 30 yards behind my truck. The wind had laid down by now, but earlier in the day the wind direction would have been blowing straight to the hog. On top of this I had my dog in her box in the back of my truck.

To make matters worse, I had second rifle with a day scope on my shoulder, and I had to get back to my truck to find my shooting stick and made all sorts of racket getting them out and set up so I could shoot.

After all that, I realized it must have just been this hogs time to go. Haha.

My 30 Herrett made quick work of him from about 50-60 yards away. Looks to be about 150 lbs?

Way nice, cool video when shot like that!! Nice going!! BANG BANG!!! Would take hog hunting over a speech ANY day of the week!!:) You were in the right place.

Good hog kill!

As for SOTU... much wailing and gnashing of teeth to follow. M'be some riots from the usual suspects, and many snowflakes melting with tears.

How are u liking the pts233?
For short range stuff like this it’s a great choice. It’s definitely not the right scope for long range shooting. Not enough resolution or ability to focus lens if that’s important to you.

I would feel very limited if this were my only thermal device. But for shooting hogs under corn feeders at distances many of us shoot it would be a great choice. Personally I’m not pulling the trigger on something farther than about 200 yards with this one.

The pulsar 384 series has a better image for similar cost.

Luckiest coon of all time.

Got another one tonight in nearly the exact same location as the last one a few days ago. This one was going in the opposite direction as the last one. When I first saw it, the hog was about 100 yards away, and when I shot it, he may have been 75 yards away. He soaked up three shots from the Herrett before going down.

It was colder tonight and I was playing around with the settings when I saw the hog. Please forgive me jumbling the camera around. I was trying to get "ahead" of him thinking he might stop, but he never did.

This hog was too heavy for me to load by myself and had to drag him back. Luckily the water was just deep enough that he drug pretty easily by hand to the road where I was parked. 8D57F762-B247-474A-BD3A-9AE8BD5417C6.jpeg

Great job with your 30 Herrett taking out both hogs.
What bullet / load are you hunting with ?

I’m using a 125 Speer TNT powered by about 30 grains of 1680. I don’t remember the exact charge, but they are 2600 ft./sec. But these hogs were shot with fire form loads at about 100 ft./sec less.

I use a powder measure to “drop” the powder. I’ve tested 1680 in the measure and it drops accurately to less than 1/2 of 1/10 grain variation. So I can breeze through the reloading of my Herrett loads.

Nice shooting! Have you tried out the shot activated recording feature on the PTS233 yet?

I’ve not used it yet. I looked at the directions and saw that it requires calibration and decided to pass.

It’s easy enough to just press the button. Actually a double click.

nice vids of some good ole whacking and stacking.
