Very nice! 30 Herrett is a unique caliber. Saw one for sale a couple years ago and looked it up.

That is flingin some lead!! A fine Curly Shuffle and a dancing pooch!!:) Way much fun! Nice going. BANG BANG!!

Will the 30 Herrett produce velocities over what a 300BLK will produce ?? If so,with what weight bullets ?? --- pruhdlr

It said in his video, but I just wanted to say it flashed over 2700 and that is pushing in an AR! BANG BANG!!:) I am sure he will chime in.

My 30 Herrett AR - far exceeds the 300BLK in velocity for the same weight bullet.
Looking at ballistics101.com, for 300 AAC Blackout, they quote CorBon 125 grn BT at 2250 fps. Did not see a barrel length listed.

My load in 30 Herrett AR uses SSA 6.8 brass necked to .308, Cavity Back 125grn MKZ bullet, CCI450 primer, 29.4grn Shooters World Blackout powder, and loaded to 2.280" oal. This load is safe in my bolt/barrel with no swipes or cratered primers. As usual, please work up your loads.
My Oehler 35p chrono reads 2,791 fps, 8 ES, and 4 SD from my 18" barrel.

Short answer is 125 grn bullet in 30 Herrett - Far exceeds 300BLK velocity - by 540+ fps...

Nice work there Dennis. Tough ol' boar. Nice video.

Note --I'm not certain but I think he has a ************** 30 Herret ar which can be loaded to significantly higher pressures than the old tc contenders with rimmed pistol brass. I have a 16" *** and it is pretty dang deadly compared to the blackout. Last time I checked he still had some 18" 30hrt barrels available at arperformance brass is easy to form from 6.8 uses standard 30 hrt dies with 6.8 shell holder once u get ur dies set its just form and trim , load and shoot

Just wondering do u use the 125mkz for blackout or the new higher velocity 125mkz? I havnt bought any 308 mkz pills yet as im still stocked up with 110 tsx out the wazzoo

I have Cavity Back MKZ 125grn .308 bullets in both blackout and higher velocity 308 versions.
To this point, I have only fired/hunted with the blackout lower velocity design. The blackout bullet at 2791 fps does not remain intact, and the three petals of the bullet shear off from the base. Absolutely nothing wrong with this, as you now have 4 paths of destruction inside the hog.
Opening up a dead hog shot with this round is an eye opener. Devastating.
-
I have 50 rounds of 125grn 308 blackout bullets remaining to load, then intend to move to the higher velocity design and test on the hog population.

Additionally, have killed hogs with my 270AR, running Cavity Back 120grn MKZ's at 2903 fps...
Neck shots on hogs turn the spinal vertebrae (6 to 8") into mush - DRT.

You are correct. I have both 16 & 18" barrels from arperformance. The additional 2" of barrel really wakes the 30 Herrett AR up.
I believe 18" is the sweet spot for this 30 Herrett Hammer.

Yeah I've been trying to be good (saving for thermal) and not buy the 18" I like the fluted 16 for weight it's in a very light setup weighing in about 4.25lb without optic so it's still easily portable with the 4lb of night vision crap u have to strap on plus the can. I'm not the most mobile of fatboys......so I cheat where I can.

That was like whack a mole but with a boar. Nice boar down.

Sounds like a great chambering. Thinking on it,I do believe that a couple guys at my club shoot in in a T/C for silhouette competition.
Thanks for the above info gentlemen. --- pruhdlr

And consider this. 1680 can be dispensed from a powder measure with exceptional consistency.

Makes loading up large quantities of Herrett ammo a breeze.

Wondering what you would get from a 30H using 375Win brass which has a much stronger web than a 30-30 ?? --- pruhdlr
