Actually it was 1/3 the price so I saved a bunch and it still looks sweet.

We do all the engraving for a custom knife maker in the Dallas Area. He is Rowland Knives and makes some pretty awesome stuff. This is a knife he made for me with sticking pigs in mind. Ident did the engraving, Itsazonik allowed me to use the pig logo and I made the Kydex sheath.IMG_1649.JPG IMG_1650.JPG IMG_1651.JPG IMG_1652.JPG

image.jpg image.jpg Here are my two Terry Guinn Handmade Knives. The big skinning knife is my favorite. It has a very thick scales with Palm swells of sort that fill my hands very well. The scales are actually kinda neat to me. I work in Natural Gas Compression and was overhauling a very old Allis Chalmers Ro-Flo Rotary Vane Compressor. The vanes were a OD Green Micarta type material 1/4" thick and 4" X 36". Terry is actually from my hometown and related to one of my close friends relatives. He made me that knife in exchange for the 6 old vanes. I have had these knives for more than 15 years.

Thought I would share one of my projects. I designed this blade many years ago thinking that it would be a good design for cleaning large redfish or other large salt water fish. Its not at all flexible, intended to have enough backbone to cut through the tough ribs of a large fish. I had it cut out and shaped when I was re-assigned to Japan. While over there, I didn't have the assets to get it heat treated and thought I would have to wait a few years till I got back to the States. I was introduced to a Japanese fellow who spoke fluent English. In the mean time, I had discovered a Japanese knife maker who spoke absolutely no English. Well, between me and my translator, we were able to get across to the knife maker that I needed the knife heat treated and final polish. You can see what the result was. I put the scales on and waited to get back home to try it out. It was years before I got to catch a decent size fish to see if my baby would work, and unfortunately, it was a bust. So....into the drawer it went for many more years. This year, I got tired of seeing it sit there so I brought it with me on my deer hunt. Helloooo...it turned out to be the most efficient skinning and quartering knife I have ever used. It's razor sharp and still has enough back bone to cut through joints like a scalpel. Now to find a sheath for it to make it more useful.

Thanks Rob, and by the way, do you know what is the proper way to add a link from Photobucket to get the picture to show up in the thread. This was my first time trying to get a picture to upload.

Haven't given it to him yet.
His birthday is August.
So I'm not sure to wait or just give it.
It is a nice knife with out the laser work.

Thanx for the kind words.

I will say this.
He is over 60.
Since he has gotten older he has embraced his prior military past even more now.
Any and every military person he sees he thanks them for their service.
He didn't do that before.
So I think he will be extra happy about this.
He has those same symbols on his hat in the same order.
2 pins from his uni and his hat has the eagle on it.
