So... I stumbled onto this yesterday. I love the simplicity of this Japanese system.

Another potential piece of kit for my gear bag.

This is way cool. I never realized that when I was growing up in the Uintah mountains of Utah that I was using a Japanese method of fly fishing. I had a pole, a little line, three or four flies, and could not afford a reel. caught my share of little trout that way.

I especially like the compactness of the telescopic rod.
