Pigs are currently limited to warm weather latitudes because they lack the gene for converting fat to energy in cold weather. Thats why they get fat and have to be kept warm in snow country. But no longer. I just read an article about using the CRISPR gene splicing technique to implant that missing gene. It's being done. And of course that ability to survive in snow country will be passed down through the generations. So hog farmers should be able to save $ by not heating pig farms. And pigs, being pigs will get loose. The ability of any feral GMO pigs to survive winter weather as well as deer can should allow GMO hogs to expand their range up to the Arctic, and increase the number of wild hunt-able hogs by at least an order of magnitude. Good news for hog hunters; not so much for farmers.
