Apparently, the smell of death in the bone yard, combined with a strong wind out of the south, attracted another carpetbagger coyote from the north.
Spotted the yote, got my rifle up and everything on, heard the buzz buzz saying the MDVR was about ready to record (still requires a couple of seconds after that before recording actually starts), when the coyote came to a stop. I thought the timing was longer than it was (time dilation). So the recording opens with the first shot at 75 yards.
Shot her a bit far back, but 123 gr. SST did very well, making a massive hole about 1.25" in diameter and dragging out intestine and such. She went down, but got up and ran. I got a second round through her left thigh as she fell again. This round was just a simple through and through with minimal damage other than the puncture.
The yote was a young female, no signs of having had pups.
