I’ve found the Ying and Yang of CCI rat shot.
Good: It will off a snake at 7 feet instantly. I’ve never seen a snake just stop and drop like that. It spreads to a nice 12” circle at that range so it’s hard to miss.
Bad: in my Ruger SR9 and my wife’s SR9c, the ammo stovepipe jams every time. In my Glock though, it does not jam. It won’t always load the next round but it doesn’t jam the action. I believe this is due to the lower blowback pressure from bb’s instead on a solid round. The glock spring must be a bit softer.
So, now I carry the glock in the field with two mags, a snake charmer and some hollow points for pig finishes.
