Saturday night was a pretty miserable night to be out hunting, but being out with friends really took the edge off the cold, rain, mud, mist, and fog. With the exception of one sow, everything happened in and around the pecan groves up in Clay County. Alex got us on to the hogs and most of the action was caught on video. We had five good stalks that netted 12 hogs, plus 7 fetal piglets from a sow that just came apart under withering fire. We started around 7 pm and finally finished up around 5 am. If that wasn't good enough, somewhere in the middle of the night between stalks, the guys broke out boxes of Girl Scout cookies. Nothing like a few thousand extra calories to fend off the cold!
