The mount is missing the male parts for mounting a camera to the rail. The flat face and female receiver mounts flush on a typical camera tripod head and screw. The actual design was for the purpose of attaching a picatinny rail to a tripod, but I have used mine to put my rifle onto a camera tripod. You need a heftier tripod than your typical lightweight camera tripod if you want it to support a rifle adequately.
The tripod makes the difference for me. Also after locating the hog, I hang an extra headlamp on the tripod which aids in light for cleaning, and relocating the hog once I've walked back to the truck.
FINALLY, The wife asked what I wanted for my upcoming B'day and I said a Tripod Trigger Stick(tall)...just ordered off ebay for $115..Going off now to do my Happy Dance!
