New Place, Single Boar

I contacted one of my landowners on Wednesday to verify I could be hunting his places. He called me back and said I could, but not to go into the the fields because he sprayed Kendo pesticide (for army worms) and the stuff would cause me some nasty skin irritation on my legs just by walking out into the fields. He said to just let the hogs lay and to not handle them. I said that if things were that bad, I will just wait until the rains washed it in and he said that was probably best, but that he had another field I didn't know about and he had not sprayed there yet and he said it had hogs.

So I spent a couple of hours checking out the new place. He had wheat sprouts coming up through the bare ground. Much of the property can be seen from atop a gas well pad in the middle of the property. A natural gas compression station makes plenty of noise to cover movement along the gravel of the well pad and through much of the property. The well pad is also the high spot in the middle of the property, which is nice.

Well, nothing showed and so I took off to check my other places, but first after checking to see if others had sprayed for army worms. Sheesh! None had, but I didn't see any hogs anywhere else, either. So I headed back to check the new spot for a while before heading home.

Wouldn't you know it? Hogs were right by the road as I drove to the property and took off running at my approach. I stopped at the gate and trailed them on foot, having lost sight of him as they passed by the dilapidated remains of a long chicken barn and old house. I caught up with them several minutes later. It looked like most had disappeared and these were the lingerers.

I think I am going to like the new place, although with all this rain, I don't know when I will be able to hunt it again. With so much bare ground, it will be muddy, muddy, muddy after all this rain...over 5" so far.

Good shot! Looked to me like you didn’t have much to shoot at with him down in that depression. Rain started here last night and still raining now. Good job!

One is better than none. That new property does sound promising with a good layout for scanning and stalking.

Good killin' B! Not much presentation there. Love the sound of the high ground and noise to help your efforts. Your suppressed shots will be really hard for them to que in on. Let the carnage begin!
