But I had a glitch with the video. Pulsar XP50 was in standby mode before I turned it back to normal mode then pressed record. It didn’t record though and I need to see if this happens this way each time.
I do have some neat comparison videos I made when the first came out below but no kill.
So when I got through jacking around with the comparison videos I set out after them.
Initially the wind was in my face and I marched out at a fast clip to try and close some ground.
Only thing I didn’t know at the time was they were also approaching me at a fast clip too.
Then the wind decided to shift around from behind me and I had no choice but to move straight to my right. And in doing so I moved down in elevation.
I pulled out My PTS233 to have a look at this point and didn’t see anything.
What i didn’t realize was that the hogs were still coming right at me, but they were out of view. They were on the other side of the hill when suddenly they appeared at the top about 30 yards away from me and about 10 steps away from being able to smell me.
I new at once I would only be able to shoot one before the group got back over on the other side of the hill and out of sight.
This is exactly what happened. And since there was no video I’ll go ahead and say that the hog I shot did a double somersault before breaking into a curly shuffle. It was quite spectacular!! Ha
The far treeline is 650 yards away. And the hogs are probably between 550-450 yards when filmed with these various optics.
Here’s the first sighting with the flir Vue (640 19mm) This scanner probably does not have any magnification? 32 degree FOV.
Flir PTS233
Pulsar XP50
Probably a 200 pounder?
