Trijicon® Inc., a global provider of innovative aiming solutions, today announced it will license BAE Systems’ OASYS thermal imaging and aiming technology. This new licensing agreement will enhance Trijicon’s expanding product portfolio for commercial, military and law enforcement customers around the world.

With this technology license, Trijicon will be positioned to provide the OASYS line of compact, high-performance thermal imaging and aiming monoculars, weapon sights, and binoculars. To accelerate Trijicon’s business position, BAE Systems will also sell its current OASYS inventory to Trijicon. Going forward, Trijicon and BAE Systemswill continue to collaborate to help maintain product quality, transfer manufacturing and operations knowledge, and develop a potential product roadmap.

“We look forward to building on the OASYS portfolio, working closely with BAE Systems to maintain quality and performance, and making the products accessible to a larger customer base,” said Trijicon President, Stephen Bindon. “The addition of OASYS products to our existing thermal portfolio is a natural next step for our business. We are excited to expand our relationship with BAE Systems and proud to be able to offer this platform to our customers.”

The OASYS electro optic product line uses uncooled thermal technology to deliver innovative imaging and aiming products that provide infrared thermal detection of targets to deliver heightened situational awareness to operators.

Paul Markwardt, Vice President and General Manager of Survivability, Targeting, and Sensing Solutions at BAE Systems stated, “There is strong demand and an untapped market for the OASYS products. We believe that Trijicon’s business model will enable them to unlock this market potential while continuing to provide competitive, high-performance offerings to BAE Systems’ current and future OASYS customers.”

Call to Trijicon indicated things may not be completely planned out for this activity. Sounds like 6-9 months before gear will be available to purchase.

In response to question as to whether gear would be sold to civilians ... the answer was "Yes, just like BAE did."

Well officially BAE did not sell OASYS to civilians, though there were some exceptions. My read on the wording "unlock market potential" ... for "commercial, military and law enforcement" ... is that the policy will change. But the Trijicon question answerers may not have gotten the memo yet.

Also heard a rumor that BAE is having trouble locating all the machinery needed to manufacture the OASYS line, though that may be baked in to the 6-9 month est.

Bottom line ... other than the announcement ... no body seems to know much about this undertaking ... so we will just have to wait.

Yep saw some talk about this a few weeks ago, but figured it would be a while before anything happened. If the current BAE pricing structure stays in affect I will pass on these units . They are awesome products, that said very high price compared to other 640 core systems out there.

I’m really watching what N-vision is doing with the ATLAS and new 12 micron scope they have coming. I plan to buy a ATLAS in Aug I’m really liking the looks of that model.

The Atlas is very nice for the price. I'm excited about the N-vision scopes as well.

So the Atlas and newer N-O thermals have OASYS cores !? I looked at the site and couldn't find that stated, but you guys seem like you know ... so I believe it ...

I had the older N-O TC50 on my short list for a thermal clipon ... that and the FLIR T-75 and the BAE UTC-x.
I could not find ANYONE that new anything about the TC-50, so I passed on that.

Strangely at that time, FLIR would not approve sale to civilian, saying someone sent one to Japan or something like that. They will sell to civilians now, I've talked to Guy Blocker twice ... once in the past week, they will now $11,900 for a new T-75 direct.

But after calling all around the country I finally lucked out and found PR-Infrared had a UTC-x on the shelf and was able to get BAE to approve sale to me for hunting (I have a copy of the email approval). But 2 months later, BAE pulled all the USA dealerships. So maybe I got the last new one for a while.

==
But if N-O will make under $10k priced thermals with OASYS cores, they could be the major new player ... so ears and eyes open to hear more on this front as well as on the Trijicon front for trying to restart manufacturing/sales of the OASYS thermals.
