I have a friend that owns and exotic ranch and he asked me if I wanted to go hunting.
We get to the cabin and I find this!!!
The worlds smallest 10 pointer!!
No this isn't a photoshop!!
He said he saw an injured deer that looked like a spike so he told his son to shoot it, this is what they found!!
He had to get rid of the pesky old 10 point and less buck.
And there were plenty.
We get there and a huge 10 point runs out and he is telling us to shoot it cause it was old. I mean his neck was so swollen and the rack was so huge it looked like it was stumbling.
He said it was ok that it was just top heavy.
He has 600 acres of the most moutainesk south Texas hill country you have ever seen.
It goes from ground level to 100yards vertical up at about a 45deg angle.
It's very pretty.
Well any way, it quickly stumbled out of sight and up a hill, HE GONE!!
Oh well.
We later went out for a evening hunt.
Going out we see 1/2 a dozen elk, Iranian red sheep, aoudad, axis deer, jealous yet?!!!
We drop my son and his friend off at a stand.
Then my friend and I go to another stand.
We have a clear 100 yard shot to the feeder.
My friend is getting mad cause there isn't anything coming.
To me this is another day in a stand, not seeing anything is status quo for me.
But not him.
Then a nice little 8 pointer walks out.
My friend tells me to wait for something bigger.
Yea he didn't have to tell me twice.
But nothing was coming and the deer was just chilling and eating.
My friend asked me "would you shoot him?"
Sure, I've never shot a deer so this guy is trophy sized for me.
"You never shot a deer?"
No.
A few minutes later he say shoot it!
Aye aye cap'in.
I look thru my scope and I'll be damned if it didn't turn into an EKG monitor!!
All that was missing was the beep!
My Trijicon point was in a full on heart attack!!
No matter how calm I told my self to stay I couldn't!!
So I pick the best heart beat to shoot and a pull. Yep I pulled hard too.
I over shot.
But the deer acted like someone threw a stone.
And trotted TOWARD me looking where the bullet hit. Not running, trotting looking back.
So my friend said shoot again.
Again my Trijicon was in full on seismic mode, 10.0 on the Richter scale!!!
I yank again and my friend said you hit!!
But he wasn't slowing nor was he speeding up.
He said shoot again.
The deer was still trotting so I lined up and rotated a little ahead and squeezed the trigger.
10 yards later the deer laid down and expired.
Perfect kill shot in the vitals!!
1 perfect kill shot in the vitals.
So technically it was killed in 1 shot!!
Started 100 yards away, finished 50 yards away.
115g fusion 6.8 SPC.
The guy with my son shot a young aoudad, below the deer.
My first ever deer tag
Even worse, he said he has too many aoudad and needs to start killing them.
More practice!!!
Oh and before you ask, yes I went and sighted in the scope up to 300 yards. And I made sure I was on at 100 also, the weekend before.
