I don´t know what bullet or caliber you were using, but I´ve killed many game through branches, bushes or even small trees (using 300WM, 270 or 308 calibers), that´s why I said that. Although it´s true that the image was not good enough to aim properly. Just my opinion.

I would not have taken that shot on the big guy either. The closer the limb is to your bore,the more bullet deflection you will have.
