Coyote Killed While Chasing Calves

I actually had a lone coyote go after several calves the other night. I couldn't figure out why the herd was fussing until I picked up the coyote in my thermal. It was running around, nipping at a calf's heels. Then it started on another.

By the time I made my way to a little open spot in the herd, a third calf got fed up and pushed the coyote into a good shooting position for me.

I used my shooting sticks as a monopod in haste, and as soon as that coyote twitched towards the calf again I let her have it.

And, a happy ending for certain, for all, but Wyliette. A one and done, and down on the spot is never a bad feeling. Congrats.

Yeah looked like that calf wasn’t through yet ! Good job indeed. They need to learn that that behavior is not acceptable. I think you learned her!

Very impressive.

You gotta do a lot of small things right ( and quickly) to make this happen.

The calf shows great promise - a scrapper, but disciplined.

Went immediately to a neutral corner when you rang the coyotes bell.

It did sort of have that "Down goes Frazier, DOWN GOES FRAZIER!!!" feel to it as that calf appeared to give it a defiant snort and hoof stomp.
