Still working on getting my first hog, but in the mean time, had a job that needed to be done at my folks' place. The beavers are back. I had left a gap in the old dam for water to drain, but also to give any returning beavers an easy place to repair, the idea being is that they could make a quick repair and start raising the water without doing a lot of new tree damage and I could spot their activity before much damage happened. It seems like a decent plan.

Mowed a week ago, but the grass had grown up a good bit. I had a good view of the dam area that needed to be repaired, but apparently not at water level and so it was a bit tough seeing the beaver. Even so, hit it with the first shot and he spasmed back into the water, my second shot missing with a huge geyser.

The new 6.5 Grendel Cavity Back Bullet did an excellent job on the beaver, drilling a significant permanent wound cavity through it.
