Personal experiences with the 5.56 and hogs

I have one hunt under my belt, and I was shooting 5.56. It wasn't my first choice, but it did the trick. Sometimes... As others have said, it sucks on a running hog/ body shot. Head /neck shots worked, and were DRT inside of 250. I dropped a sow at 250 plus, then went for the others, and...

Afraid in the Jungle alone at night

I'll take the rattlesnakes over meth heads all day long. You stand a better chance of reasoning with the snake, and no one will question you shooting the snake. I don't trust people in the middle of the woods at night that aren't hunting.

Afraid in the Jungle alone at night

Last week I was coyote hunting on public ground, and got a little creeped out. It was about 10pm, so about 5 hours after dark. Snow covered, temp in the 20's. I'm about a mile from the nearest house, hunting in cut corn field, with my back to a wood line. I heard something walking in the snow...

    Anatomy of a miss

I think you are right, I probably should have let him go, as opposed to missing, and educating him. Adrenaline got the better of me. I'm still learning.

    Anatomy of a miss

I have yet to get a coyote, and the misses are stacking up. I had a major scope issue that is now resolved. It was a user error. Tuesday night, I set up in a new field. Within 10 minutes I have a yote come barreling in hard. He is coming in from my left at 90 degrees, about 40-50 yards in front...

    Need a Thermal Scope education

You've heard from the smart people, that truly know what they are talking about. Time for the dumbass to speak. I wish I had found this place before I bought my thermal. I did some research, but not near enough. I bought an ATN, yes I said it. I feel a since of relief admitting it. :) Would...

What have you shot a hog with?

You're down there in God's country, they'll get you fixed up with a 4 or 5 ARs, thermal, NV, and all the accessories, in no time. :)

Pigs always squeal when hit? (assuming they aren't DRT)

And an ammo sponsor. You know, for research purposes. We're gonna have to shoot a lot of hogs until we really know what all the squealing is about. Then start over, just to be sure.

New toy I doubt I can use it to hunt hogs though

Ok Rookie, we need to get some 9mm MPX hogs. Time to plan a trip!

What have you shot a hog with?

You win! That's an impressive list of calibers. The only 9mm I have seen, from my extensive, YouTube experience, (lmao) was a full auto MP5 from a helicopter. Keep us posted.

New toy I doubt I can use it to hunt hogs though

I bought a MPX a few years ago, and also went with the MP5SD, "look". It is my favorite PCC at the moment. I had planned on having a MP5 clone rebuilt into an SD, but have now reconsidered. It was just a lot cheaper to go with the MPX.
