thanks for the time off. i really appreciate it. you know... if you hired a secretary, the vids could get posted much sooner. not that i'm complaining about having to clean your rifle, reload your ammo, wash your truck, punch your cows and plow your fields, it's just that going 96 hours with no sleep makes me a little dizzy, as i'm sure people will point out watching my cross hairs.

OinK brought a guest, some kind of doctor. of course i introduced myself as dr jones and we engaged in a bunch of medical mumbo jumbo talk. from what i gathered, he was either a brain or boob doctor. he sure has a cool head lamp for examinations.

this boar got away on our last hunt. this time all three of us got a shot. good teeth on this one. OinK and doc took a little target practice on him afterwards and both experienced jamming problems that would plague them the rest of the night.

spotted a single checking peanuts. we all stalked up but doc’s batteries were dead and he had to stand down. fairly far shot. looking at the vid, i almost missed. focus went out again after the shot. i have a wad of rubber bands overlapping the ring and body, forcing a deliberate turn to move the ring, but it must have slipped. really frustrated that i asked armasight to fix that when i sent it in for the firmware upgrade and they didn’t.

tried to sneak up in truck on a hog in cotton stalks. pretty far shot and OinK couldn’t see with nv and ir so doc and i teamed up. turned out there were two hogs. looked like the first one took a hit but he got away. doc jammed again after a few shots, but fortunately i was able to transition from dirt clods to cotton stalks easily and managed to find a kill shot somewhere in the spray.

spotted this group in the cattle but to our favor, they spooked and moved closer. we came up over a hill and they were right in front of us. eased down to the bottom and cut loose. still pretty dark so i had to reposition cautiously when they ran. turns out doc jammed again after first shot. oh well, at least he got his first solo pig.

stopped to survey a field that usually has hogs. nothing there yet. i peeked into the pasture they use for cover when entering as several were coming up. somehow they busted us and turned back. only doc had a clear shot and he dropped one with an impressive running shot to the brain. we inspected it and doc began probing different parts of the brain to show us how he could make the hog twitch and go into spasms. it was disgustingly repulsive, but i couldn’t look away. now i have nightmares haunting me. be glad i don't have video of it.

cows kept pushing these hogs all over the field and they never settled down. there was no way we were going to catch them but we were able to intercept them at a respectable range. if anyone was going to hit a cow, it would be me. even so, it’s doubtful i would actually kill one. if a stray shot found one, we were hoping it would be either in the brain or boob and doc would stitch it up. luckily, everyone connected and no cows were harmed in the process.

we also tracked down one that crossed over into the cotton and finished him off.

doc had enough of my boob jokes and left at 4:00am. OinK and i continued the battle leaving death and destruction in our wake. OinK kills with such speed i didn’t even have time to get my gun out, much less capture the kill on video. before i even knew there was a pig in sight, OinK had him down and was instructing me go take a pic. i’m lucky to work for such a nice staff member.

next field had so many cows we decided to just shoot one standing hog each and not chance any running shots. turns out a couple hogs gave us unexpected opportunities and we took them. OinK's jamming problems were starting to clear up.

i'm not blurring it for the computer. i cover it with blurr before each hunt in case i have to run from the gw.

Awesome! Thank you very much lawdawg! Now all I need is a flashlight and a 10mm. I'll have to have mine where they can't run because if they can run at all I wont be able to catch them.

Something seems real familiar in those videos. DJ, you didn't happen to sell doc your old rifle now did you? Roffies for hogs? Come melon season cut a few plugs out of the melons hollow them out enough to hold the cheapest, highest proof alcohol you can find and put the plugs back in. Place melons in strategic spots. Let the hogs eat their fill and hillarity will insue. i have a method that will kick it up a notch, but it's proprietary infornation.

But, ya gotta have the crosshairs on the hog when squeezing the trigger, not moving vertically off the neck which squeezing. Unless, scaring them to practice running shots is the point. ;)

Lots of fun right there though. Good job keeping off the cattle.

it was pretty darn far. besides, even the pros miss the cut once in a while.
