With the fallout at 68forums where will the hoard migrate to for 68 info?

it seems that the 68forums are enduring mass defection all in part to new management and a flawed password reset process.

Scanning the forum conference names here I don't see any 6.8 only topic headings but I believe the majority of you shoot the 6.8.

If you build it they will come......

Hey nothing wrong with Todd starting that sub forum for data and such, he is a 6.8 fan himself

Benny,

I wouldn't fuss over the events going on there. This isn't the first exodus of folks. A LOT of very good people left a couple of years ago after all the LEO bashing threads went on for months and months. Many good folks (pillars of the original format/group) just vanished.

What I've read thus far, one member has jumped ship, one vendor has jumped ship (much of that is for other things/recent events however), and one moderator has resigned his position of help/authority. Owenslee's contributions being lost will be missed, however, I suspect he's also "tired". He's had more than one loss of family in recent time, and he's been coping with his own struggles with his health. I haven't read any en-mass departures there.

I agree RD but it might be better to have more than one dog in the 6.8 perfection hunt. The new owners are all about return of investment and could care less about the 68 or the people there. In addition their recent attitude shows a total lack of concern so how secure the info is there and if they even care if it is lost.

Oh, I understand where you're coming from, and I'm not in disagreement with you on it. I'm just not that worried about the overall health of the forum at this point in time. Aside from the fiasco triggering the current mood there... there's another agenda a-foot that I see going on, and a little fanning of flames to stir discontent to feed an outside agenda.

Well I've seen more folks take up the 6.8mm over the last 1 1/2 years and recently the movement appears to be at rampant levels where people are diving in head first without really knowing the specifics.

So what's it hurt to have more sources of information and if people are looking for a place to land then why not at a forum that is seemingly in the 6.8 groove.

I dont tune in heavily to the 6.8 but I hate to see experience just vanish so therefore throw out a welcome mat and see what springs forth...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against a 6.8 specific sub-forum here. I was simply commenting on the perception of there being a mass exodus from there.

I cannot comment on reasons for others leaving, and can only express my observations.

I remember the LEO bashing which was a big turn off and wanted to depart then. Since I was so heavily invested into the content there I decided the give the forum another shot and stayed on. However since then my contributions and overall activity was lessened as a result.

Since then we gained more and more members with questionable motives and lack of respect. Then the GPC thing happened which confirmed my concerns even from long standing members. Still I stayed on hoping that the forum would steer in a different direction.

Finally the management issue and overall sellout (way too much ads) was the straw the broke the camels back and I couldn't take anymore.

Since the member quality was questionable (including some long term members) and it was obvious that the new ownership was only concerned in ad space and not the members. I didn't see a reason for me to remain on the forum and made the final decision to depart.

Like I said in my departure thread I didn't come to this decision lightly and it wasn't the "password reset" alone for my departure. I just didn't like the direction the forum is headed and decided I no longer wanted contribute.

Hopefully I am wrong and the ship gets steered on the right course, but my observations over the past two years isn't looking good from my perspective.

I don't see the forum disappearing and I believe the information will be retained for many years. I will still visit the forum to reference this content, but as a guest only.

Fwiw, I was a member of the 6.8forum. I noticed a deterioration generally and the password issue created enough pita that I never bothered to "reup."

I seldom go there and use to be active, for the reloaders I hope the info stays active. I do not see as many people going the 6.8 way as I use to but the several faceplant 6,8 forums are active.

Saw the same and left. Still poke in once awhile as a guest to look at info, but no longer follow or contribute.

Good news is I spend more time on this forum...
