I got the Lone Star Armory rifle back from Ben and got some new ammo to try in it. Accuracy was great. Federal Fusion show well under 1" at 100 yards and Hornady Black ELD-M shot a half inch at that distance. I don't recall having particularly good feelings about either bullet type based on previous experience and I hunted with the Fusion this time around. I think the bullet performs exactly as designed, but doesn't do anything extra. It drills a hole and stays together very well and if it doesn't hit something directly, it doesn't get damaged. Maybe great for meat hunting, but not for flat out killing hogs...

I tend to agree, but only from what I've seen on the interwebs from others. The Fusion makes a dandy traditional style (single well-placed shot) hunting bullet, but there appear to be better options for less than ideal shot placement on runners.

I am still going to see if perhaps the 90gr Gold Dot is a bit more efficient at rapidly transferring energy.

Accurate pills... not sure they're transferring energy as well as those SSTs tend to do. Good killin' just the same. Good situational awareness when it counted, nice work.

The ammo testing is interesting. It's nice that you have sufficient targets to allow that!
Nice stalk, good shooting.

Good shooting! I know you like to experiment with different types of ammo, but I think the 90 gr. TNT has worked very well for you. And that kinda surprises me. Good to get some more hogs down.

I like the TNTs, but with the 1:75" twist on this barrel, I think it may be too fast and the group size opened up to close to 2" at 100 yards, so TNT is not my choice for this rifle.

Good shooting. Was that first sounder on the same place you killed that skinny sow. That may be all the orphans left.

No, the skinny sow was actually on the last property where I shot the two boars among the cattle. Good thinking on your part as I have hunted both places recently.

What made you change twist rate? Was it a new option to try or just the way it was given to you?
