4 Hogs with Grendel AR Hybrid OTM Bullets

Decent night. Saw my first hogs before dark, which was nice, but it was too bright to walk out on them and I had to wait until things got darker.

Dropped three of four hogs and got them gathered up for necropsy and deposition in the bone yard and yanked my left wrist out of socket (recurring injury) moving the last and largest hog, so there was no necropsy work on her and only enough to recover bullet fragments on the lone boar taken on the next property.

However, with the information so far that I have on the Federal load of these bullets and those loaded by Custom Reloads of Dallas, and while very accurate from the LSA TX15 I am testing, what they do inside the body seems to be variable. My impression is that they remain fairly stable until something destabilizes them. So they may tumble immediately after entry or may have to go in a few inches or hit something hard before yawing. The frequently lose the jacket tip, of which I have recovered 3 so far. Then, the rest of the bullet may break up or not. So, while accurate, maybe not the best choice for hunting. I will try them a few more times before moving on to something different.

Got some good hogs down! Glad that one got at least most of the way out of the water for you. Dragging them up out of the water is a pain in the butt for sure.

Yeah, and that wasn't that good, clean, livestock tank water, but murky, stinky, livestock and hog waller tank water. That stuff will put a smell on you that doesn't go away in less than a couple of showers.

I’m probably going to catch some third world disease one of these days but when I mix up my sour corn that’s what I use for water. Sure makes it stink quicker! But you are right -you don’t want it on you!

Yuk!! Try a cheap beer or soda. It starts the process quick and won't put you in the hospital.

Mmmmm... nuttin' like vile water! Nobody in their right mind would enjoy recovery from that sort of Washington D.C. bath water (post-Pelosi bath) !! Gotta love it when they come on up out of there under their own power. And, it's a bonus when they don't roll on back IN afterwards. LOL Good killin' Brian.

Last hog had natural grill marks, kudos.

Well, not natural. Those were from my carrier. I put the entry side down (for last 2 shots) in hopes of having the entry wounds exposed by blood draining. The neck wound never showed, but the extra wounds along the spine did, which what interesting.

Yeah, I recognized the pattern. Just a lame attempt at humor I guess, hadn't finished my coffee at that time.

Good hogs down!! That lone boar you shot near the tank - I didn't grow up in the country so I was use to seeing those big water tanks in the city. When I started hunting, the land owner would give me directions to a feeder and tell me to pass by a tank.

I eventually found the feeder but told him I didn't see a "tank". Years later I realized what he was talking about.
