With a nearby sow in heat, a couple new boars made their way into our area. One in particular, a dominant boar with a flopped right ear, became a frequenter of our feeder. We got some cool trailcam photos of him foaming at the mouth over this hot sow.

So after 3 attempts over several weeks to catch him at the feeder he finally eases in 30 min after dark one night with the wind perfectly in my favor. He was cruising through cover, but paused in a small gap @ 65 yards. In my haste, I pulled the shot and instead of hitting him in the neck, the bullet entered the crease of the facing shoulder, penetrating and breaking the off shoulder. He ran 5 yards, did a 180 and ran approx. 15 yards crashing through cover and folding under a red oak. Thank you Lord!

Good One!
Yeah, there's a smaller boar in the area who's probably pretty happy right now.

I still remember the best phrase yet: "He don't work here no more." Fine boar, solid killin' work there. I said the same thing this fall as I walked up on my buck... "Thank you Lord." I've said it a few more times since then as well.
