My cousin and I have been drawn for deer tags (each). We've submitted for secondary tags (awaiting word), and will probably opt for some OTC doe tags as well.

I am SOOOO stoked for this trip. Been trying to get the planets aligned for this one for more than ten years now.

That's awesome! I remember the thrill of being notified that I was drawn for CO tags many years ago. I couldn't sleep for weeks.

Where are you going RD? They have "coming home" tags for those who lived there, a little discounted I believe, I may take advantage of that and make it for a whitetail bowhunt near Bozeman.

SE corner of the State. My cousin's been going there for years.

Nice RD, congrats. I really enjoy getting out of NE TX to hunt muleys although it’s only TX panhandle. Whatcha gonna take for yer hole punchin’ - MSR or bolt gun?

May bring both. If it's lookin' like a closer range (or a 'yote) MSR... if a little longer to target, bolt will probably get the nod. I'm itchin' to bloody the 6.8 though.

Was just out in Kalispell we drove through Whitefish and 2 does ran across the road outside town middle of the day. I was laughing out loud in the middle of the summer they were bigger than our lame FL bucks when they are all bowed up in the rut. Have a great trip!

The Rem 700 ADL has been transformed into a removable mag fed unit with a BDL stock and a "Kwik Klip" conversion. I've sanded the stock to allow a piece of paper to slide down to the recoil lug, haven't "bedded" it though. The trigger has been worked over and is very crisp, and quite light. I just mounted a pic rail, topped with Vortex Precision rings and a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 3-15x44 FFP scope. I have a cheek rest (leather) to go on next, and have three brands of 125gr. hunting loads to feed it to see what it likes. I'm hoping this .30-06 will like the Nosler 125 BT load.

A new Primos Jim Shockey Gen 3 Trigger Stick (tall) tripod will be coming along as well.

The MSR is my A R P built upper (16") and the lower I built. It shoots sub-1/2" all day long as long as I do my part. I have a Vortex Viper 2-7x32 on it.

I'm doing some homework on video cameras next. Hoping for a chance to catch a shot or three on video.

Sounds great. I love the build-up to an adventure like this. By the time you get home from the trip, it won’t matter if you filled your tags or not, all the memories will have been the reward.

Got my "B" tag (muley doe), as did my cousin. He's still awaiting word on his Speed Goat tag draw. We're gonna be roughing it, staying in a B&B... LOL.

Snagged up a good supply of dehydrated veggies to add to things for quick/easy nutritional supplement for trail meals too.
