why would you want to !!
So people at home and on the interweb can watch!why would you want to !!
Heartbreaker morning. Stalked several fields and back and forth on a large Soil Conservation Service erosion control dam for 2 hours before the hogs finally showed up. Got tangled up in a rats nest of discarded, balled up barbed wire, then had trouble making it over a barbed wire fence in order to get close to the sounder that promptly turned around. I tried to parallel them to get a shot but was running out of property. I need more offhand work. This business of huffing and puffing across the country side and then making perfect shots like the Olympians do is something that apparently is missing from my education. After a protracted foot pursuit and search, then a later vehicle search, I could not find the hog.
We HATE when that happens ! Great fun though.First attempt to shoot a hog at 300 yards ended poorly.
1). Rushed the shot
2). Didn't load my bi-pod
3). Used my left hand to level butt stock instead of sand bag
I was aiming for the head of the white and black sow. Shaved her head. Hopefully they'll come back next week. I spotted the same sounder later that evening but wind was in their favor and I got busted. Spotted another bore around mid-night but it was in the middle of our cattle. There was also a group of about 10 deer between me and the hog posing no possible shot.
Moo-Deer... what's a feller ta do? They always seem to have that look about 'em of... 'Duh... what'cha doin'?
It would appear I hit two and one got up and ran away. I did not realize this until editing the video.
Yer lucky he didn't grab a quicky while he was there. LOLFirst time I used a decoy was on an antelope hunt in Montana, maybe 25 yrs ago, set the thing up and got my bow ready and this speed goat comes flyin up to me about 15' away. I was so flustered I didn't know what to do. Then he turned and ran off, left me going what the....
Your missing the point lol.
Unless you're using a monolithic upper... having your scope on your fore end rail doesn't help your POI consistency (in relation to your POA). I understand "why" the move off the receiver rail... just adding to your thoughts for dialing in the change of lay-out.
LOL... I KNOW !!! Wassup wit' 'dat?!?!? "Back in the day"... a feller could use his mono-pod to anchor himself in place and enjoy his shot. Now... a trench for the belly, and the mono-pod isn't as reliable !!I have not shot prone since basic training...Now I am to FAT, there is a huge hump if I lay on my stomach...What is that? I never felt that before??
