While doing my walk this morning scared up a couple of coyotes. First one made it into the woods but this one stopped and turned around to look at me one last time. Emphasis on last time.B6283EE3-3372-4DC7-8761-6636E0FF01F9.jpeg

Always nice to put one down.

I've finally noticed a decrease in sightings on my place. Only took killing almost 40 of them in an 18 month period to do it. They'll be back soon enough though.

I don’t see them very often. This place is pretty much woods so lots of places to hide. One neighbor has cattle so I try to get rid of all I can. I haven’t had much luck calling so it’s been just when I see one.

Yep. Called in only one that I didn't already have eyes on. This place here is about 25 percent (densely) wooded, so still a lot of room for movement and escape.

I generally give the coyotes a break until calving season (Feb/Mar and Sep/Oct here). During those months everything around the calves dies.

Before I moved up here I had cattle. I was the same way. I had Santa Gertrudis mother cows and they were pretty protective. But I tried to help all I could. I shot a coyote once and they went over to it and stomped it good. Kinda funny to watch.

I run Lim-Flex here, and what you described has happened with the last two coyotes I've shot.

I was moving hay this winter and jumped a coyote out of the creek bed when I got ~15 yards with the tractor...had all the cows in tow after the hay. All 38 cows from that pasture went after that coyote (none had calves yet either) and chased it a good 200 yards. I killed that coyote a couple months later, and it was one of the ones the cows all went over and stomped.

You put your left hoof in, you take you left hoof out, you put your left hoof in and you stamp it all about...

Pretty interesting to watch for sure. I had no idea they would do it until I saw it.
