It's my understanding they have contracted a outside customer service contractor. Is ray marine it? All I saw was boat sales seems strange. But it's also strange to me that flir cant manage their own customer service. But with 5 out of the last 10 flirs sold going out in the first month I guess they need help.

Raymarine has been a vendor for FLIR for several years that I know of and they do all sorts of boat electronics. How they ended up being the subcontractor for FLIR service just seems weird. However, they will have an easy go of it to improve upon what FLIR was offering.

Still, that sort of makes me question the brand when they aren't taking care of their own products and customers.

Flir is having issues 6 of the last 10 536's myself and another dealer have sold were returned with issues. They need to let the guys from the military side come over and help out.

I had to ship my Armasight Zeus into FLIR two weeks ago. Googled where I was shipping it to and saw the location in Nashua, NH is a Raymarine/FLIR facility. Based on what I read on other forums, past places for repair seemed to be in California and I think Oregon. Hoping the place I sent it to, being Raymarine, will sort out the issues with it quicker than other facilities. Dreading the possibility of being without it for a few months.

Unfortunately, I picked mine up on February 6th - before reading the post by TEXASLAWMAN. Doh! Though my only other option in my price range for a 3x native magnification and 640 resolution was an ATN... not sure that is any better quality wise heh.

Yes they have outsourced repair and customer service. ATN is worse, but Flir seems to be giving them a fight for that last place position lately.

My experience with ATN CS has indeed been the worst in the thermal space and competing for worse in any space. They were actually HOSTILE in 2/3rds of the cases. And since they've gone "chinese" ... I have no reason to deal with them. I do still have an olde ODIN that is useful, but I think I'm on my own as to fixing it if it breaks.

Got my Zeus back yesterday from FLIR service after 5 weeks. They returned it in worse condition. Same serial number, but the focus ring is scratched. The on/off/standby button doesn't line up... and it still doesn't focus... LOL. I originally sent it in because it went out of focus when trying to sight it in.

The germanium lens now rattles if I slightly shake it. Looks like the oring that holds it in wasn't put in right. See below. Had to pack it up less than 24 hours of receiving it. It's been 45 days since I bought it (my first thermal). I have yet to actually hunt with it. Ugh.

At this rate... I'm wondering if ATN might have passed FLIR in customer service. I follow their ATN Smart HD Owners Facebook group and see ATN staff post regularly. Kind of makes me envious.

I called the PH# on Raymarines website, they answered ;) and thank the LORD for that . I even put a note in there to do a firmware update if they are able to.

Just an update of my most recent experience with Flir CS.

Newest 233 arrived with an issue that shows NO quality control at the factory, however I spoke with a CS rep, Mike, who was as helpful as i could ever hope for.

Overnighted 1st scope back then overnighted a replacement they had in stock.

This is my 3rd 233 and all 3 had issues that were addressed,

536 running fine for now

But due to my experience, Flir has definitely lit a fire under CS.

Thanks Mike

Was out with a buddy last night that has a PTS536. Sounder walking toward us and his scope turns off and will not turn back on. This isn't the first time it's happened. Both times on cold nights
He reached out to FLIR 2 weeks ago and still hasn't heard back. Don't recommend anyone deal with these fools.

I think the cold temps has something to do with it it was in the teens or 20s when mine died.Hard to find anything in that native power for the money.
